Interactive Analytics for Application Insights

by bill-s, 2016-04-16T07:23:58.000Z

<strong>Analytics</strong> is another powerful and new feature of <a href="http://dailydotnettips.com/tag/application-insights/">Application Insights</a> that can help you to apply advanced search over collected telemetry data from your application.  The data return by the query could be tabular or a graphical representation and can be understand very easily. This can help us searching for very specific set of data which are not available out of box in the portal.  Writing  interactive queries for analytics over the telemetry data can also help us discover trends of issues, users, additional issues, usages etc.

Data Points - Handling the State of Disconnected Entities in EF

by bill-s, 2016-04-16T07:25:46.000Z

Disconnected data is an old problem that precedes Entity Framework and, for that matter, most data access tools. It’s never been an easy one to solve. The server sends data down the wire, not knowing what may happen to it in the client app that requested it, not even knowing if it will return. Then, suddenly, some data reappears in a request. But is it the same data? What was it up to in its absence? Did anything happen to it? Is it completely new data? So much to worry about!

by bill-s, 2016-04-16T21:39:13.000Z

Exciting news! Starting today, SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition is now a free download for Visual Studio Dev Essentials members (you will be prompted to sign in to Visual Studio Dev Essentials before you can download SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition). We are making this change so that all developers can leverage the capabilities that SQL Server 2014 has to offer for their data solution, and this is another step in making SQL Server more accessible. SQL Server Developer Edition is for development and testing only, and not for production environments or for use with production data.

<a href="http://build.microsoft.com/" target="_blank">BUILD 2016</a> was two weeks ago in my favorite city, San Francisco. There was a TON of .NET content &amp; announcements delivered. Here’s a recap of all the big .NET sessions, announcements, downloads and resources. And my apologies for not getting this out sooner, but I was unexpectedly out last week. Plus, anyone trying to pay attention to all the stuff happening that week probably needed a little break anyways ;-)
